Haryana CM: No board exams for class 5, 8 students this year.

In various parts of the state, parents and students have been demanding the state government to revoke the proposed decision to conduct board exams for class 5 and 8 students

The state board exams for classes 5 and 8 in Haryana schools have been postponed to the next session. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar made this announcement on Monday.

 “In the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the studies of the students got affected. Thus, we have decided to postpone the class 5th and 8th board exams for the current session. Board exams will be held next year. For the current session, schools have been asked to conduct examinations at their own level”, Chief minister said.

A meeting was scheduled to take place on February 25, to discuss the issue of conducting board exams for these two classes. We will see if the meeting needs to be held now. But, we have decided not to conduct state board exams for these two classes for the current session, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said.

In October 2021, BSEH proposes to conduct board exams for class 5 and 8 in all government and private schools in Haryana. On January 18, the government brought a notification to amend the Right to Education Act and appointed SCERT in Haryana as the “academic authority” to conduct examinations for classes 5 and 8. SCERT handed over the responsibility to BSEH on 28 January.

In different parts of the state, parents and students have been demanding for the past several days from the state government to quash the proposed decision to conduct board exams for class V and VIII. The parents were stressing that the board exams for these classes would create unnecessary stress for the students, which would lead to repeated school closures and online classes post-learning gaps due to the ongoing pandemic for the past two years.
