New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke appealed to the government on Wednesday to stop targeting students involved in nationwide protests over allegations of the NEET paper leak. Abhijit stated that they stdents are “not terrorists” but “the future of the country.”
Speaking to reporters at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport after returning from Delhi, Dipke claimed that police are harassing students in several states even after the protests have ended. He urged the government to act responsibly now.
“Blood was shed on the streets during the Parliament march on July 20. Wasn’t that enough? Students are still being harassed. In many states, police are visiting students’ homes and threatening them with arrest,” he alleged, according to PTI.
Abhijit Dipke Returned to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Abhijit Dipke returned to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after spending about 36 days at Jantar Mantar, where the CJP had led protests regarding the NEET paper leak allegations. He claimed that the agitation eventually turned into a nationwide movement, resulting in Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan having to resign. “I am returning home after nearly 40 days. Protests were underway from the moment I arrived in India. Then, I spent about 36 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The movement was successful, and the country’s students won. I am happy that I will now meet my parents,” he said. Warning against taking the student protests lightly, Abhijit Dipke stated, “If the government does not mend its ways, we will change it,” adding that the Union Minister’s resignation should not be viewed as the end of the movement.
“These students are not terrorists; they are the future of our country,” he said. “If the country’s future is treated this way, just as Dharmendra Pradhan had to step down, we will change the government tomorrow if it does not get on the right track.” He further stated that the government should not assume the students’ anger has subsided following the minister’s resignation.
Abhijit Dipke said, “If the need arises, we will launch a massive new agitation.” Responding to a question, Dipke also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that he should resign and become an “influencer,” as he is allegedly “an expert at that.”
