MPSC Drug Inspector Exam: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced the cancellation of the Drug Inspector (Group B) recruitment examination. According to reports, this decision was made based on a preliminary investigation following complaints of alleged irregularities in the screening test held on March 22.
Drug Inspector Exam Notification and Screening Test
The Commission had issued the advertisement for the post of Drug Inspector in the Food and Drug Administration Department on July 29, 2025. The screening test was conducted offline on March 22, 2026, across six divisional headquarters in the state.
Drug Inspector Exam Results and Interview Call
According to reports, the screening test results were declared on June 12. Following the screening test, 506 candidates were found eligible for the interview round. As per an Asian News International (ANI) report, interviews for 488 of these candidates were conducted between July 1 and July 22.
488 Candidates Included in Merit List
After the completion of the interview round, a provisional general merit list of 488 candidates was published on the Commission’s website. This list included 485 eligible candidates and three ineligible candidates for the Drug Inspector post.
Complaints of Irregularities
According to an ANI report, between July 22 and July 26, the Commission received complaints via email from certain candidates and public representatives regarding irregularities in the screening test held on March 22.
The report states that the complaints alleged that prior to the commencement of the exam, specifically on March 20, some candidates had obtained the question paper or specific questions, which were subsequently circulated via social media or electronic media.
Investigation and Conclusion
According to the ANI Media report, given the seriousness of the complaints and the sensitivity of the matter, the Commission lodged a formal complaint with the Mumbai Police Commissioner on July 27 to initiate an investigation. Subsequently, the Crime Branch conducted a preliminary investigation and submitted a report to the Commission. The report concluded that it appeared a candidate had obtained the question set and benefited from it.
According to an ANI report, an official stated that the decision to cancel the recruitment process was taken to uphold the secrecy, integrity, transparency, and fairness of the examination, as well as to maintain the candidates’ trust in the Commission.
Re-examination date soon
The MPSC will conduct a re-examination for the relevant posts and candidates. According to official information, candidates do not need to apply again for the exam. The Commission stated that no additional fee will be charged for the re-examination. According to official information, the Commission will soon announce the date of the re-examination and other details via a press release.
