SL vs Pakistan Live Score: Pakistan was eliminated from the T20 World Cup on Saturday, winning by five runs in a Super Eights match against Sri Lanka, while New Zealand advanced to the semi-finals based on a better net run rate.
To surpass New Zealand in Group 2, Pakistan needed to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 or less. Although they were sent in to bat at 212 for 8, Sri Lanka scored 207 for 6, which was enough to keep Pakistan behind on net run rate. Both teams finished the Super Eights stage with three points each, but New Zealand finished second in the group.
SL vs Pakistan: Highlights
Pakistan had reduced Sri Lanka to 101 for 5 in the 12th over, putting them in a strong position. However, Pawan Rathnayake and captain Dasun Shanaka added quick runs to take Sri Lanka to 148 in the 16th over, virtually ending Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying.
At one point, Pakistan was in danger of failing to defend their highest T20 World Cup total of 212. In Shaheen Shah Afridi’s final over, Shanaka took 4-6-6-6 off the first four balls. Sri Lanka then needed six runs off the last two balls. Shanaka missed the scoop attempt on the fifth ball and left the last ball, a yorker, thinking it would be called a wide. That wasn’t the case. Pakistan won by five runs but still missed out on a place in the semi-finals, finishing one point behind New Zealand.
