Apoorva Mukhija, the content creator famous as ‘The Rebel Kid’, has shared that she has relocated to New York. The ‘Lock Upp 2’ contestant shared that she fell in love with the city during her travels. Speaking on the ‘Untriggered by Aminjaz’ podcast, Apoorva said, “I am leaving for New York in two days.” She mentioned that by the time the episode was released, she would have already arrived in the US.
Explaining her choice of New York, Apoorva said she had visited the city several times and felt an instant connection with it. She said, “I have travelled a lot, and when I arrived in New York, I felt, ‘I really want to live here’.”
She added, “There was something special about the city. It is fast-paced, everyone is dressed so well, and the food is amazing. I love the architecture, and I’ve seen New York in almost all my favourite web series.”

Apoorva Mukhija also Revealed that she had Applied to a College in New York
Apoorva Mukhija also revealed that she had applied to a college in New York and secured admission. Later, while sharing the podcast episode on her Instagram stories, she wrote, “So, I don’t live in India anymore.”
She noted that even being ‘cancelled’ (facing a boycott) for a few weeks could directly impact her brand deals, meaning her income could come to a halt. Apoorva admitted that this aspect of being ‘cancelled’ bothered her the most, as she openly stated that she loves earning money.
Apoorva Mukhija acknowledged that moving to New York had been her dream, but the decision also brought some fear. She mentioned that her friends, career, and familiar surroundings were in India, whereas in New York, she would be starting everything from scratch, living in a dorm and returning to student life. She also mentioned that she would be pursuing an MBA there.
The content creator stated that her decision to move abroad was partly driven by a desire to meet new people and build a social circle beyond just fellow content creators. She felt that college would provide her with that opportunity. Apoorva Mukhija also jokingly remarked that the “Kalesh Wali Aurat” (the woman who thrives on drama) persona was now a thing of the past.
She noted that she creates the kind of content she does because she understands what works and what sells. However, she added that she would be more deliberate about her content creation in New York and might not post ‘storytime’ videos consistently; instead, she would post only when she genuinely felt like it.
In February 2025, Ranveer Allahbadia faced significant criticism for comments made regarding parents and sex on Samay Raina’s show, ‘India’s Got Latent’. Apoorva Mukhija was also part of the panel, and an argument she had with a contestant drew heavy criticism on social media. Subsequently, FIRs were filed against those involved. Apoorva later revealed that she had received death and rape threats as a result of the controversy.
