Suryakumar Yadav to Lead: Test skipper Shubman Gill was on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) appointed vice-captain while pacer Jasprit Bumrah was named in India’s 15-member T20 squad for the Asia Cup, starting in the UAE on September 9. Gill’s last T20I match was against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2024 and he will now replace Axar Patel as the vice-captain to skipper Suryakumar Yadav.
“Gill’s form in England was something we expected but he exceeded it all,” chief selector Ajit Agarkar said during the squad announcement press conference here.
