Prime-Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Statue of Equality in Hyderabad.

The Statue of Equality is made of five metals and is one of the tallest metal statues in the sitting position in the world.

Prime-Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Statue of Equality in Hyderabad in the memory of the 11th century Bhakti saint Sri Ramanujacharya.

The statue of Ramanujacharya is installed on the day of Basant Panchami. I pray that the teachings of Ramanujacharya guide the world. Idols of our Gurus are the way to attain knowledge”, said Prime-Minister Modi during the inauguration.

He further said, “The statue of Ramanujacharya is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. This idol will once again strengthen the ancient culture of India. What Ramanujacharya achieved through years of travel and education will now be available here.”

Many saints in every corner of the country have spoken of Ramanujacharya. Today India is also celebrating 75 years of independence. Today we are celebrating our freedom fighters. The freedom struggle was not about coming to power, but it was a combination of many ideologies. Can we ever think of freedom without Mahatma Gandhi, or Mahatma Gandhi without non-violence? Who is not aware of the bravery of Sardar Patel in Hyderabad? Asked PM Modi.

PM Modi said, “On one hand you have the Statue of Unity and now we have the Statue of Equality.”

In this event, PM Modi also threw light on Telugu culture and how it has shaped the country. “From the kingdom of Vijayanagara to the poets and sages, everyone has played their part and taught us to respect women. The Telugu film industry is being appreciated not only in India but also globally. Be it films or OTTs, they have made their way into the global cinematic world,” PM Modi further said.
