95% Attendance in NEET-2022, Highest Number of Applicants till date.
A total of 18.72 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, which is the country’s biggest common entrance held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-2022) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, which recorded the highest number of applications so far this year, clocked 95 per cent attendance on Sunday.
A total of 18.72 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, which is the country’s biggest common entrance held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
According to an official statement issued by the NTA, the test was held across 3,570 centers in 497 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. NEET (UG) 2021, for which 16.14 lakh candidates had registered, was held in 202 cities including Dubai and Kuwait.
The number of candidates within India were maximum in Jaipur (52,351) and minimum in West Sikkim (105). Similarly, the number of candidates outside India were maximum in Dubai (646) and minimum in Thailand (6),” the statement said.
The arrangements made by the NTA included one central control room, live CCTV surveillance and jammers.
In cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara, students were asked to report three hours before the commencement of the exams. Last year, more than 75,000 of the over 78,000 candidates who registered in the state took the NEET UG.
For a majority, the NEET-2022 exam was slightly tougher than last year’s with Chemistry the toughest. Physics paper was lengthy, candidates said.
“Though Chemistry was not lengthy, it was difficult compared to last year. Physics had maximum NCERT-based questions but was lengthy. Biology had around 60 per cent easy questions and 30 per cent medium,” said Rashmi, a student of St Xavier’s School in Gandhinagar, who appeared at Pandit Deendayal Energy University.
Experts said the difficulty level of Biology and Physics was moderate to easy while the time aspect of the Biology section was lengthy and time-consuming. The biology paper was slightly tougher than last year’s, while the Physics paper was similar, they said.
