Free JEE and NEET Coaching: On Thursday, the Bihar government launched a free coaching program for engineering (JEE) and medical (NEET) entrance exams, alongside the ‘Bihar School Live Classes’ initiative, in 10 model schools across Patna. The government plans to expand this coaching program to all 155 model schools across the state.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated these initiatives at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Shastri Nagar, stating that the program would bring expert teachers and technology-based learning directly into government school classrooms.
In a post on ‘X’, the Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said, “This new initiative will provide government school students with access to live classes by expert teachers, digital study materials, modern technology-based teaching, and free, high-quality preparation for competitive exams like JEE and NEET.

Under this initiative, students from 10 selected model schools in Patna have been connected to a live teaching system, enabling them to attend classes conducted by expert faculty. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) also formally launched its online coaching program and NEET-JEE preparation drive during the event.
According to the BSEB, 266 students have registered for JEE coaching and 252 for NEET coaching in the first phase. Subsequently, the program will be extended to all 155 model schools across Bihar.
Under this initiative, students will receive specialised coaching from experienced teachers, high-quality study materials, regular doubt-clearing sessions, app-based interactive learning, bi-weekly tests, and classes in air-conditioned smart classrooms equipped with digital boards, all free of cost.

Coaching Classes Will run Until 6 PM for Girls and 7 PM for Boys
Each model school will have four subject experts for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. For the pilot phase, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has appointed 40 teachers across the 10 schools. Coaching classes will run until 6 PM for girls and 7 PM for boys, enabling students to prepare for competitive examinations alongside their regular school education.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated two smart classrooms equipped with interactive panels, stating that these facilities would make classroom learning more effective, engaging, and technology-driven. To foster innovation, skill development, and quality teaching, the state government signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with seven voluntary organisations during the program.
The state is already running a free residential coaching program in Patna for promising Class 11 students preparing for JEE and NEET. This program provides free coaching, accommodation, meals, and specialised study materials; it currently covers two batches (2025-27 and 2026-28).

According to the BSEB, students from the 2024-26 batch performed well in JEE Main and JEE Advanced; 15 students qualified for JEE Advanced 2026 and became eligible for admission to IITs.
In addition to the residential program, Bihar operates non-residential coaching centers across nine divisional headquarters: Patna, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Munger, and Gaya. These centres connect students with expert teachers via smart classrooms.
Students studying at these centres receive free study materials, assistance with admission to affiliated educational institutes, and a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 for two years (totaling ₹24,000). Given the success of the existing coaching program and the growing demand from students, the Bihar government has decided to launch free JEE and NEET coaching in all model schools across the state. Its objective is to enhance facilities for high-quality competitive exam preparation for students studying in government schools.
