Bihar Announces Significant Hike in Stipends for PG Medical Students; Here Are the Details

Stipends for PG Medical Students: The Bihar government has announced a substantial increase in the monthly stipends of postgraduate medical students. These students play a crucial role in patient care and hospital services under the supervision of senior doctors. The revised stipends will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

The monthly stipend for first-year postgraduate medical students has been raised from ₹82,000 to ₹92,800. For second-year students, the stipend has been increased from ₹90,200 to ₹1,02,000. Third-year postgraduate medical students will now receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,12,200, up from ₹99,220.

Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar said, “PG students, who play an active role in patient treatment and hospital services under the supervision of senior doctors, will receive better financial support. This will also boost the development of quality human resources in the medical education sector.”
