World’s first 4 year BS degree in Data-Science and Applications by IIT Madras
The program offers candidates the option of first exit at the foundation, diploma, or BSc degree level. The program will be taught through online medium.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras India’s top technical institute launched the World’s first 4 year BS degree in Data-Science and Applications last year. Candidates can apply for May 2023 batch at the official website- study.iitm.ac.in. by 10 May, 2023. The program offers candidates the option of first exit at the foundation, diploma, or BSc degree level. The program will be taught through online medium.
Admission to the foundation level of the program is done in two ways, either through regular admission or through JEE-based entry. In regular admission, candidates can be admitted by successfully completing the qualifiers process, while in JEE-based entry, candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced are admitted directly at the Foundation level.

Course Structure of BS Program:
There are four levels in the IIT Madras 4 year degree program and to get the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Data-Science and Applications, a student has to successfully complete all the four levels. Students have the flexibility to exit at any stage.
The 4 stages of the programme include- Foundation, Diploma (diploma in programming or diploma in data science), BSc degree in Programming and Data Science and finally Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Data Science and Applications.
Every academic year is equally divided into 3 terms-January Term, May Term and September Term of 4 months each.
Eligibility Criteria of 4 Year BS Programs
Students who have passed class 12 or equivalent can apply irrespective of age or educational background. Those who qualify the exam can join the program immediately.
Also, students who have appeared in their class 11 final exam can apply irrespective of their group/stream/board. Such candidates can join the program after passing class 12, if they qualify the qualifying examination.
