The Bihar government has extended the Student Credit Card Scheme for the next five years. This Student Credit Card scheme provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. A new framework has also been introduced to make the Student Credit Card scheme more efficient, accessible, and financially sustainable.
The Student Credit Card scheme will now continue until the 2030-31 financial year. Under this initiative, students will continue to receive education loans of up to ₹4 lakh. The state government has also approved an allocation of ₹950 crore for the current financial year to facilitate these loans.

Private B.Ed. Colleges to be Developed into Multi-Disciplinary Degree Colleges
In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the government has approved a proposal to transform 300 existing private B.Ed. institutions in Bihar into multi-disciplinary degree colleges.
According to a report, this decision paves the way for NCTE-recognized private teacher education institutions to launch undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, and other subjects alongside their B.Ed. programs. These institutions will also be able to introduce skill-based courses.
To launch new courses, institutions must adhere to prescribed regulations and obtain necessary approvals from the respective universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the NCTE, and the state government.

This move is expected to make the admission process in ITIs more organised and transparent.
