NIT Rourkela Students Secure 1340 Job Offers: According to the institute’s placement report released today, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela secured 1,340 on-campus placement offers and 364 six-month internship offers during the recent placement drive for the 2025-26 academic session.
Students selected for internships will also have the opportunity to receive Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) based on their performance during the internship period.
Meanwhile, BTech students at NIT Rourkela secured a peak CTC (Cost to Company) of ₹1.31 crore per annum during the 2025-26 placement season. The highest offer for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) students stood at ₹83.60 lakh per annum.
Across all BTech programs, the average CTC was ₹15.33 lakh, while the median CTC was ₹12.50 lakh. Six BTech branches- Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering- recorded a placement rate of 95.47 percent.
Six other programs, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Design, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, achieved a placement rate of over 90 percent.
MTech students also recorded impressive placement figures during the recruitment drive. The highest CTC was ₹46.38 lakh per annum, secured by a student from the Computer Science and Engineering department.
A student from the Electronics and Communication Engineering department received the second-highest offer of ₹44 lakh per annum. The average CTC for MTech programs was ₹11.90 lakh, while the median CTC stood at ₹9 lakh. NIT Rourkela announced that its pre-final year students secured a record-breaking 258 summer internship offers during the placement season.
The highest internship stipend offered was ₹1.50 lakh per month. Additionally, over 83 students secured annual packages exceeding ₹30 lakh. Key roles offered to students included Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst. A total of 374 recruiters participated in the placement drive, with nearly half of them visiting the institute for the first time.

Prominent recruiters included companies such as Aditya Birla Group, Bharat Electronics Limited, JSW Group, Larsen & Toubro, ZS Associates, Vedanta Resources, Texas Instruments, ExxonMobil, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte USI, Cairn Oil & Gas, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Accenture, Deutsche India, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Teradata, NatWest, Qualcomm, Tata Motors, and Tata Consultancy Services.
The software and IT services sector accounted for the largest share (17.79%) of participating companies, followed by BFSI (11.52%), electronics (8.40%), manufacturing (8.09%), and education (7.23%). Recruiters also came from sectors such as aerospace, automobile, biotechnology, civil engineering, construction, electrical and electronics, engineering consulting, FMCG, healthcare, mining, pharmaceuticals, robotics, and telecommunications.
