The registration process for the Xavier Aptitude Test 2027 (XAT 2027) will commence on July 15. XLRI Jamshedpur has announced a new initiative: candidates who register on the first day will be allotted their first-choice test city.
According to XLRI, candidates who complete their registration on July 15, 2026, will be allotted their preferred exam city, with details of the assigned centre provided by August 5, 2026. The institute stated that this move aims to help candidates plan their travel and focus on exam preparation well in advance.
Organised by XLRI on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), XAT is one of the most widely accepted management entrance exams after CAT. The test is accepted by over 250 B-schools and is conducted in more than 100 cities across India.

Announcing the registration schedule, Dr. Rahul Shukla, Convener of XAT 2027, stated that the exam has been a trusted gateway to quality management education for decades.
He said, “For XAT 2027, we will continue to uphold this value while introducing initiatives that assist aspirants in their preparation and make the test-taking experience more reliable and student-friendly.” Graduates from any academic discipline are eligible to take this exam, regardless of whether they possess prior work experience. To support candidates, XLRI announced that XAT 2027 will feature multiple mock tests, live webinars with the convener, and online interaction sessions with past toppers to aid aspirants in their exam preparation.
XAT is conducted in a single session without score normalisation and serves as an entrance test for admission to MBA and PGDM programs at XLRI and numerous other management institutes across the country.
