ICC Dress Code in Champions Trophy: The Indian cricket team will follow the dress code prescribed by the ICC during the upcoming Champions Trophy, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI on Wednesday (January 22, 2025), dismissing speculations that the board has objected to Pakistan’s name being on the team’s official jersey.
The Champions Trophy will begin on February 19 and India will play its share of matches in Dubai after refusing to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will adhere to all regulations concerning ICC uniforms throughout the Champions Trophy, Saikia informed PTI.
“Whatever other teams do with regards to logo and dress code, we will follow it completely,” he said. However, Saikia said whether national captain Rohit Sharma will participate in ICC’s pre-tournament activities, which include a press conference and official photo shoot in Lahore, is still being discussed. Saikia said that a decision has yet to be decided regarding Rohit Sharma’s potential travel to Pakistan for the ICC media events.
Some unconfirmed media reports had suggested that the BCCI had objected to the name of the host nation being embossed on their jerseys, which is an established practice for all ICC events due to the strained political relations between the two countries. It is understood that there was never any doubt about the logo guidelines being followed and the BCCI did not raise any concerns with the global body.
