In a major relief for JEE Advanced 2026 qualifiers caught in the controversy surrounding CBSE’s marking process, IIT Roorkee announced on Friday night that students currently unable to meet the mandatory Class 12 percentage requirement will still be permitted to participate in JoSAA counselling and receive seat allotments. This is subject to the condition that they submit a revised scorecard meeting the eligibility criteria by July 15, 2026.
This announcement, made via IIT Roorkee’s official X handle, addresses a primary concern for thousands of students who cleared JEE Advanced but faced the risk of losing their IIT seats because their Class 12 scores fell below the required cut-off due to discrepancies in CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

Addressing the affected students directly, IIT Roorkee stated, “You are currently eligible to fill in your choices, and seats will be allotted to you based on your rank.” The institute added, “You must email a revised scorecard, reflecting the required minimum of 75% or 65% marks, depending on your category, to orgjee@iitr.ac.in by July 15, 2026.
Upon receipt, admission will be granted for the seat allotted to you at the end of the Josaa counselling fourth round.” Under current eligibility rules, students in the General, OBC-NCL, and GEN-EWS categories must secure at least 75% marks in Class 12, while those in the SC, ST, and PwD categories require a minimum of 65%. Students failing to meet these benchmarks are typically deemed ineligible for admission to IITs, regardless of their JEE Advanced rank.
