On Monday, the Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct RE-NEET UG 2025 exam for candidates who were affected by power cuts at exam centres in Indore and Ujjain. Dealing with the writ petitions filed by the affected candidates, Justice Subodh Abhyankar ruled in favour of the students, stressing that they had faced hardships due to factors beyond their control.
The court said the disparity in conditions violates Article 14 of the Constitution, which ensures the right to equality. “After the hearing, the division bench suspended the June 23 order of the single bench till the decision on the appeal filed in the matter. The court has fixed July 10 as the next date for hearing in the case,” advocate Mridul Bhatnagar, representing the affected candidates, told reporters, PTI reported.
In the High Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the NTA, sought a stay on the single judge’s June 23rd order as interim relief. He informed the court that approximately 2.2 million candidates nationwide took the NEET-UG exam, with 27,264 students from 49 centers in Indore alone.
