Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI University) has approved one-year postgraduate (PG) programs in 13 subjects, including MBA, through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes. With this move, JMI University joins the list of central universities, such as Delhi University (DU), that are offering one-year PG programs for the 2026-27 academic session.
According to an office order issued on September 21, these programs have been approved in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the applicable rules and amendments set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The list of one-year PG programs introduced into JMI University’s academic curriculum includes the Master of Arts (MA) degree, which will be offered in subjects such as Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Islamic Studies, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, and Urdu.

Additionally, the JMI University has cleared the path to introduce a one-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Business Management via ODL and online learning formats.
As per the university’s order, the aforementioned programs will be offered through Jamia Millia Islamia’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE).
The order, issued by JMI University Registrar Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi on behalf of the “Majlis-i-Talimi” (Academic Council), states that the action taken by the Vice-Chancellor will be placed before the Council in its next meeting. The JMI University has directed its Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and other concerned officials to take note of this order.
The Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education has also been instructed to take the necessary action. Students interested in applying for the recently launched one-year PG program should regularly check the university’s official website for information regarding eligibility criteria, the application process, and the selection process.
