DUSU Election Violations: On Friday, the Delhi High Court questioned student organisations, including the ABVP and NSUI, regarding alleged violations during the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election process.
The Court asked: “Are you students? You participate in meetings to ensure the elections are conducted in accordance with the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations, and yet this is what you do?”
The Court was hearing a petition alleging violence and other violations during the DUSU election campaign. The bench also questioned the Delhi Police regarding alleged convoys of vehicles, some lacking number plates, in the North Campus area.
The court questioned the Deputy Commissioner of Police, stating, “You cannot deny these photographs. How was this allowed despite heavy police deployment?” The Additional Solicitor General told the court that status reports, which incorporate the Delhi Police report, have been submitted.

The police have divided the North Campus into five zones and 23 sectors, deploying ACP and Inspector-level officers to oversee security. Pickets and barricades have also been set up at college gates and key checkpoints.
The ABVP has fielded candidates for all four central panel posts, while candidates from the NSUI and other student organisations are also in the fray. The vote counting is scheduled for September 19.
