IISc Bangalore launches BTech in Mathematics in Computing; Admission through JEE Advanced.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has started a new undergraduate program i.e. B.Tech in Mathematics in Computing. Admission to the program will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. The complete course structure and eligibility details are available on the official website, iisc.ac.in.
The institute IISc Bangalore has not released any deadline for admission to the program and the deadline will be posted on the IISc website soon. There will be a total of 52 seats including 8 additional seats for female candidates and 4 for foreign nationals/NRIs/OCIs. Students can also earn an MTech degree by taking an additional year of coursework and project credits.
The fee for the first year for General/OBC/EWS category candidates is Rs 2,20,200. Whereas candidates belonging to SC/ST category will have to pay only Rs 20,200 during the first academic year.
To be eligible to apply, a student must have passed class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and any subject other than the above four. The details of the counseling process for admission to B.Tech program have not been finalized yet.
“We have approached the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) of IITs to engage with them. If successful, the application and counseling will be conducted by JoSAA in accordance with the JoSAA Rules. Otherwise it will be through IISc Admission Portal,” the official website reads.
The core of the program, spread over four semesters, consists of six courses each in the mathematics and computing areas, in addition to courses in the sciences, humanities and other engineering disciplines.
“To help students navigate through the vast number of courses available and guide them towards specializations, the study tracks are designed in Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computational science, Theoretical computer science, Quantum computing, Signal processing, Computational biology and Mathematical Finance. Students can opt for research/industry projects in their fourth year,” the website read.
