Bihar Medical Colleges: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled the recruitment advertisements issued for 1,711 Assistant Professor (Specialty) posts in state-run medical colleges and hospitals. This decision has brought the recruitment process to a halt, and candidates who had applied under the previous advertisements will now have to wait for a new schedule.

In a notice, the BPSC stated that the Health Department of the Government of Bihar has withdrawn its requisition for filling these 1,711 vacant posts. Consequently, advertisements numbered 04/2025 through 28/2025, originally issued on April 4, 2025, have been cancelled.

The Commission indicated that a new advertisement is being prepared based on a revised requisition. However, no date has been announced for the new notification, nor has it been clarified whether the number of posts will remain the same in the upcoming recruitment process.

Why were the previous advertisements cancelled?

The cancelled advertisements pertained to Assistant Professor (Specialty) positions across various departments in state medical colleges and hospitals. The objective of this recruitment drive was to fill 1,711 vacancies under the state Health Department.

These positions spanned both clinical and non-clinical departments, including Anesthesia, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Radiology, and Microbiology.

Since the original advertisements have been withdrawn, candidates cannot consider the details of the previous vacancies or the application terms as final for the upcoming recruitment process. A new advertisement will be issued based on the revised requisition.

What should candidates keep in mind now?

Candidates who had previously applied may wonder whether they need to register again and if their earlier applications or documents will remain valid under the new process. The BPSC notice does not provide answers to these questions.

Furthermore, it remains unclear whether there will be any changes to the number of vacancies, the distribution of posts by specialty, eligibility criteria, age limits, or the selection process. Candidates will need to refer to the new advertisement for these details.

Candidates are advised to wait for the new notification rather than relying on details from the previous recruitment process. Information regarding new application dates, fee requirements, and instructions will be provided through an official notice issued by the Commission.

The BPSC has not yet released a new timeline. Candidates should keep an eye on the Commission’s website for updates. For now, the ongoing recruitment process for 1,711 posts has been cancelled. The Commission has stated that a new advertisement is being prepared for the affected candidates, based on a revised requisition received from the Health Department.
