Asia Cup: The match ended the same way it had started – without shaking hands. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav led his team to a one-sided seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup match in Dubai on Sunday, thanks to a brilliant bowling attack by spinner Sufiyan Muqeem. He remained unbeaten on 47 off 37 balls, and then walked off without shaking hands with the Pakistani players or their captain. The match had started similarly, with both Suryakumar Yadav and his Pakistani counterpart Salman Agha not even taking the initiative to shake hands or greet each other at the toss.

And, further cementing his point, Yadav later referred to the Pahalgam terror attack and dedicated the win to the armed forces. Speaking to the broadcaster after the victory, he said, “We stand with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack. We express our solidarity and want to dedicate today’s victory to the armed forces.”

This was the first India-Pakistan cricket match after the Pahalgam terror attack in April. India launched Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in May, following which the two countries launched retaliatory attacks on each other for three days, following which a ceasefire was declared.
