Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Sunday that rising geopolitical tensions are adversely affecting the lives of ordinary people across the globe. He emphasised the need for BRICS nations to unite to tackle these challenges and foster inclusive growth, particularly within the ‘Global South.’

In his address at the BRICS summit, the Prime Minister also expressed serious concern regarding the “weaponisation of technology and critical minerals,” noting that this could hinder shared progress and prosperity.

PM Modi made these remarks in the presence of top leaders from the group, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

The Prime Minister said, “Under India’s presidency, we have focused on four pillars: resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability. I am pleased that, with your cooperation and support, we have been able to transform our shared vision into a ‘win-win’ situation for all.”
