The new MBA batch at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) has changed a long-standing trend in management education. For the 2026-28 academic session, about two out of every three students admitted to the institute’s main Post Graduate Programme (PGP) are women. The institute mentioned in a statement that this is the highest female participation in the history of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
At the new academic year’s opening ceremony, the institute welcomed a total of 599 students and 99 doctoral scholars into its three full-time MBA programs.
| Year | Women Students (%) |
| 2021 | Above 50 |
| 2024 | 59 |
| 2026 | 66 |
Women’s participation in IIM Kozhikode’s flagship PGP program has steadily increased over the past few years.
The most significant achievement is evident in the flagship PGP program, where 329 of the 499 admitted students are women, bringing female participation to approximately 66%. This figure sets a new benchmark across the entire IIM system and advances IIM Kozhikode’s decade-long focus on enhancing gender diversity in management education.
