JoSAA 2026 Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) released the second mock seat allotment for the 2026 counselling cycle today, June 10, at 1:00 PM. This allotment is based on the choices submitted by candidates up to 5:00 PM on June 9.
This is the second mock allotment round conducted by JoSAA before the actual seat allocation process. The purpose of the mock allotment is to show candidates which seat they might secure based on their current choices and their ranks in JEE Main or JEE Advanced 2026. Mock Allotment 2 offers candidates a final opportunity to modify their choice list before locking in their preferences.
Once choices are locked, they cannot be changed. Candidates who do not manually lock their choices before the deadline should note that the system will automatically finalize the order of their last saved choices. Candidates are advised to take this round seriously.
Together, the two mock allotments demonstrate how the choice list is performing; if the second mock result differs significantly from the first, it may indicate that other candidates within the same rank bracket have altered their choices, thereby affecting potential outcomes. Reviewing the previous year’s opening and closing ranks for shortlisted institutes and programs can help in creating a more accurate and strategic list before locking choices.
JoSAA 2026 manages joint seat allocation for admissions to 138 institutes for the 2026-27 academic year, including 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 56 other Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Seat allocation for IITs is based on JEE Advanced 2026 ranks, whereas JEE Main 2026 ranks are used for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. This mock allotment is temporary and not a final offer for a seat.
The final seat allotment result for Round 1 will be declared on June 13 at 10:00 AM. The deadline for JoSAA 2026 registration and choice filling is June 11, 2026. The JoSAA counselling process for the first mock allotment was released on June 8, 2026.
