IISc Announces 3 New BTech Programs; Admissions to be Based on JEE Advanced Scores

IISc Bengaluru currently offers two undergraduate programs, the Bachelor of Science (Research) and the BTech (Mathematics and Computing).

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has launched three new BTech programs for the 2026 academic session. These three programs are: B.Tech. in Materials Science and Engineering, B.Tech. in Mechanics and Computing, and B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering. Admission to these programs will be based on scores obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) and the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling process.

IISc Bengaluru currently offers two undergraduate programs, the Bachelor of Science (Research) and the BTech (Mathematics and Computing). The Institute has been admitting students to its BTech (Mathematics and Computing) program through the IISc admission portal, based on JEE Advanced scores.

According to the Institute, these new undergraduate programs are designed to prepare the next generation of engineers who will lead research, development, and innovation in emerging and interdisciplinary fields.

The Institute further stated that these programs integrate fundamental sciences, core engineering principles, and cutting-edge computational tools to address complex challenges of national and global significance. The objective of these programs is to provide a foundational curriculum during the initial semesters, covering core subjects in engineering, mathematics, and computational methods.

The Institute further noted that students graduating from these programs will possess a unique blend of analytical, computational, and practical skills, making them highly sought after by academic institutions, industries, and research centers worldwide.

This year, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is the organizing institute for JEE Advanced 2026. The JEE Advanced 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on May 17. To be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2026, candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the BE/B.Tech paper of JEE Main 2026. Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001.

IIT-Roorkee

Certain relaxations are also available for candidates belonging to reserved categories. A candidate may attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years, and must have appeared for the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in the year 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
