NBEMS Opens Registration for FMGE 2026: Check Important Dates, Internship Requirements, and Other Details

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (Autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India) has commenced the application process for the June 2026 session of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). According to the official notification, the last date to submit the online application form for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination is May 11, 2026. Eligible candidates may complete their application form through the official website at natboard.edu.in.

According to the tentative schedule, the screening test is scheduled for June 28, 2026. The City Intimation Slip is scheduled for release on June 17, and the Admit Cards are expected to be issued shortly before the results.

Foreign Medical Graduate Examination

Eligibility for FMGE 2026

Candidates who are citizens of India or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and who possess a primary medical qualification, i.e., an MBBS or an equivalent degree, on or before April 30, 2026, are eligible to apply for the NBEMS FMGE 2026. If a candidate fails to submit the necessary documents substantiating their primary medical qualification by the stipulated deadline of April 30, 2026, their candidature will be cancelled.

The Information Bulletin states that foreign medical degrees must either be attested by the Indian Embassy or Apostilled by the competent authority of the respective country. Additionally, to appear for the FMGE 2026, candidates are required to have completed their medical degree as well as any mandatory internship prescribed by their foreign university. Upon passing the examination, it is mandatory to complete an internship of 12 to 24 months in India to obtain permanent registration and legally practice medicine.
