UPSC IES And ISS Examination 2026: The Union Public Service Commission has begun the Registration for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2026. Candidates can now apply through the official website, upsc.gov.in.
The IES and the ISS are prestigious posts, aspired to by most of the civil services aspirants. As per the official notification, there is a total of 44 vacancies in this recruitment drive. Out of 44, the IES has around 16 posts vacancies, while the ISS has around 28 posts vacancies. Students must apply before the stipulated deadline.
The last date to submit the application is 3rd March 2026.
UPSC IES And ISS Examination 2026: Universal Registration Number
When the candidate registers through the UPSC online application portal, a Universal Registration Number is automatically generated. This generated URN stays common for all further examinations that would be conducted by the Commission.
The candidate’s age must be between 21 years of age and not more than 30 years of age.
The Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2026 will be conducted in two parts. The first part is conducted as a written examination. The total mark is 1000 for this written examination. The second part is conducted as an interview. The maximum mark is 200.
The question papers are usually in essay format. But the Statistics Paper 1 and Statistics Paper 2 of the ISS Examination consist of objective-type questions.
The Application fee is only Rs 200 for General candidates. The application fee is exempted for females, SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability. The application fee can be paid through Visa, MasterCard, Debit card, UPI, Credit card, and Net Banking.
