IndiGo cancelled more than 650 flights at various airports across the country on Sunday as disruptions continued for the sixth day, while efforts to resume normal operations continued.
According to PTI news agency, the airline operated 1,650 of its daily 2,300 domestic and international flights on Sunday, as disruptions to the airline’s schedule over the past few days have led to hundreds of flight cancellations and delays, affecting thousands of passengers.
IndiGo CEO Statement
The government said on Sunday that the airline has processed refunds totalling ₹610 crore and delivered 3,000 pieces of baggage to passengers across the country as of Saturday. In an internal video message to staff, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the airline expects to achieve 75% on-time performance (OTP) on Sunday. “Today, we have completed further system improvements to reach approximately 1,650 flights,” he said.
This morning, the Civil Aviation Ministry’s website reported that the airline’s on-time performance from six metro airports had improved to 20.7 percent on Saturday. IndiGo said it expects operations to stabilise by December 10, compared to the earlier timeline of December 10-15.
