Opted for Civil Services, Startups, or Further Studies: According to the institute’s 2024-25 annual report, a total of 1,359 IIT Delhi students secured campus placements during the 2024-25 season, receiving 1,481 job offers from 378 companies. The placement drive featured 534 distinct job profiles; additionally, 240 pre-placement offers (PPOs) were extended, and 86 students received multiple job offers. In total, 622 companies registered for recruitment.
The institute stated that its ‘Office of Career Services’ (OCS) managed placement and internship activities throughout the academic year. Beyond placements, 821 students secured internships, with the OCS facilitating 902 internship offers.
45 Students Joined Startups
An exit survey conducted among the 2,656 students who graduated in August 2024 revealed that campus placement was just one of several career paths chosen by the graduates. According to the institute, 1,411 graduates received job offers, while 359 decided to pursue further studies, 321 opted to prepare for civil services and other competitive examinations, 224 started their own ventures (self-employment), 66 embraced entrepreneurship, 45 joined startups, and 47 PhD graduates decided to wait for post-doctoral research opportunities or faculty positions. Approximately 5 percent of the survey respondents indicated that they were still exploring suitable career opportunities.
Sector-wise data reveals that core engineering was the largest recruiter, accounting for 472 placements. This was followed by Information Technology (246), Management (165), Consulting (151), Others (156), Analytics (90), and Finance (79). This distribution reflects the sustained demand across both engineering and non-engineering sectors.
In undergraduate programs, 877 students from B.Tech and dual-degree programs secured placements through campus recruitment. Computer Science and Engineering recorded the best results, with 105 out of 115 registered students securing placements. This was followed by Electrical Engineering, where 113 out of 124 students landed jobs. In Mathematics and Computing, 84 out of 92 students were placed, while Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Civil Engineering also recorded strong placement figures.
The institute also recorded placements for postgraduate and doctoral programs. According to the report, during the 2024-25 recruitment cycle, campus placements were secured by 210 M.Tech students, 142 MBA students, 57 M.Sc. students, 36 PhD students, 25 MS (Research) students, 9 M.Des. students, and 3 Master of Public Policy students.
