The State Bank of India has invited applications for the post of Probationary Officer (PO). Eligible candidates can apply online via SBI’s official website, sbi.bank.in. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,500 vacancies within the organisation.

SBI PO Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Candidates in the final year/semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally, provided that, if called for an interview, they can produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before September 30, 2026. Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before September 30, 2026. Candidates with qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, etc., are also eligible.

SBI PO Recruitment 2026: Age Limit

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of April 1, 2026; meaning candidates must not have been born after April 1, 2005, or before April 2, 1996 (both dates inclusive).

SBI PO Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The selection process will consist of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview. The Preliminary Examination will comprise 100 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The duration of the exam is one hour.

A category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off in the Preliminary Examination. Candidates numbering approximately ten times the vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on the merit list mentioned above.

There will be a penalty (negative marking) for incorrect answers in the objective test. For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty. No penalty will be imposed if a question is left unattempted (i.e., if the candidate provides no answer).

SBI PO Recruitment 2026: Application Fee

The application fee is ₹750/- for Unreserved/EWS/OBC candidates, while it is ‘Nil’ for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances and cannot be carried forward to any other examination or selection process.
