MBBS In Karnataka: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil on Saturday said the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted 450 additional medical seats to the state for the academic year 2025-26. The decision fulfils the long-standing demand for more medical seats in Karnataka.
In addition, the state has for the first time decided to implement a 15 per cent NRI quota in government medical colleges in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, the minister said 15 per cent of the newly sanctioned seats have been earmarked for NRIs with a fee of Rs 25 lakh per seat. “This will help government medical colleges become more financially self-reliant instead of being overly dependent on state grants,” he said.
