IIM-Bangalore Placement Panel Resigns Amidst Recruitment Clause Controversy

The placement committee at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-Bangalore) has resigned following allegations that a recruitment clause was waived in a manner that selectively benefited committee members. The institute subsequently stated on Friday that the matter is “under internal review.”

The 20-member placement committee resigned on December 10, stating in a letter to the institute’s Career Development Services and students that the decision was taken collectively.

The letter stated, “Consequently, support from the Placement Committee for all activities related to the Lateral and Final Placement Process 2026 will remain suspended until further notice.” The Career Development Services is managed by 20 student representatives from the postgraduate program, under the supervision of faculty members.

In a statement, IIM Bangalore said that the matter is currently under internal review as per the institute’s process framework. It further added, “The well-being of the students is paramount and central to the values ​​that IIM Bangalore upholds,” without providing further details. The pre-placement process for lateral and final placements typically begins in December, with interviews for final placements scheduled for February each year.
