Ratan-Tata was Awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Literature
Along with Sri Ratan Tata, Sarod maestro Sri Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has also been honored with Honorary D.Lit.
Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature on industry veteran Sri Ratan Tata at its inaugural convocation in Kolkata today. Along with Sri Ratan-Tata, Sarod maestro Sri Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has also been honored with Honorary D.Lit.
Other personalities who have been honored are Chandrashekhar Ghosh, MD & CEO, Bandhan Bank; Mani Shankar Mukherjee, author, novelist and researcher; Sanghamitra Bandopadhyay, Director, Indian Statistical Institute; Martin Kampchen, eminent writer, translator, journalist and social worker, and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, eminent sarod player.
Thereafter, Prof. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor of Sister Nivedita University, handed over the degrees to the recipients.
“Education has witnessed far-reaching changes over the years. As new technology, methods of pedagogy and learning methods change, educationists and educational institutions need to evolve in the crucible to prepare for the future, Sister Nivedita University is driven by this same focus and curiosity to understand and define the future.
As we mark this auspicious day, we are inspired by the presence of some of the most celebrated achievers of modern India. I urge the students of the University to take inspiration from him to continue their academic journey.
