This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first standalone visit to Japan in nearly seven years, aimed at deepening bilateral ties and boosting investments from Japan to India. PM Modi also pointed out that after defence and space sectors, India will soon open up the nuclear sector for private investment. The remarks come at a time when the country is looking for new avenues of economic growth in the wake of the extraordinary tariff rate of 50 per cent imposed by the US, which is likely to impact several key sectors.

Prime-Minister Modi Ji’s Japan Visit Updates​​​​​​: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tokyo on Friday for his two-day official visit to Japan, from August 29 to 30. During this, PM Narendra Modi will attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit, where he will also meet Japanese Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba. PM Narendra Modi’s Japan visit comes at a time when tensions are rising in India-US relations over President Donald Trump’s trade and tariffs policies.

Japan is expected to pledge to double its investment target in India during the talks on the first day of the PM’s visit, and the two sides are likely to sign several agreements to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, defence, and science and technology. PM Modi will also meet Japanese industrialists and political leaders in Tokyo.
