Maharashtra and Jharkhand State Elections 2024 Date and Schedule Announcement Live: The Election Commission announced the polling dates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Maharashtra will vote in single phase on November 20, Jharkhand will vote in 2 phases on November 13 and 20 with the results set to be announced on November 23.
The major contenders in the Maharashtra elections are the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT) Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
This time in Jharkhand, the main fight is likely to be between the India Alliance led by CM Hemant Soren and the NDA. The India Alliance includes Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress, RJD and Left parties, while the NDA includes AJSU Party, JDU, LJP-R and HAM Party apart from BJP.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, “We appeal to the Election Commission of India to not let the Maharashtra elections become like the Haryana elections, there can be a money game in it. If the Election Commission considers itself impartial, then we do not believe so, they will have to take care of all these things.
EVM is not full proof, any government will change. This unconstitutional government formed with the support of PM Modi, Amit Shah and the Supreme Court will change.”
After the announcement of Jharkhand state elections 2024, BJP leader Arjun Munda said, “With the announcement of election dates, the countdown of the current (state) government has started. The current (state) government has failed at every level.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said, “The way we (Maha Vikas Aghadi) fought the Lok Sabha elections, we will fight and win the Maharashtra Assembly elections… Corruption, unemployment has increased, law and order has completely collapsed in the state.”
