Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 1 Updates: Voting for the biggest election globally began in India today, with queues of voters forming outside polling stations under strict security measures even before voting began at 7:00 am.
More than 18 lakh polling officers have been deployed and more than 16.63 crore voters are ready to cast their votes today at 1.87 lakh polling stations. 35.67 lakh first-time voters are registered to cast their votes. Additionally, there are 3.51 crore youth voters in the age group of 20-29 years.
“Highest voting of 75.67 per cent has been recorded in Kallakurichi, next 75.44 per cent in Dharmapuri, and minimum is 67.35 per cent in Chennai Central, 67. 82 per cent in Chennai South. By tomorrow, we will be able to get an Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 1 overall figure of the voter turnout in the state,” said Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer Satyabrata Sahu. (PTI)
In the second phase, voting will be held on 89 Lok Sabha seats in 13 states/union territories. Elections for all 20 seats in Kerala will be held during the second phase on April 26. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, starting from April 19, followed by the next phases on April 26, May 7, May 13. 20 May, 25 May and 1 June.
