Dr. Navdeep Singh, a Student of Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, Who had Topped NEET in 2017, was Found Dead.
The body of an MD Radiology student of Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi was found in the hostel of the institute on Sunday. Dr Navdeep Singh, a National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) topper, had secured AIR 1 in the 2017.
The news of Dr Navdeep Singh’s death has led to mourning in Punjab’s Muktsar district. Dr Singh, a resident of Muktsar and a second year MD student at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), Delhi, was found dead on Sunday morning. The body of 25-year-old Dr Singh was handed over to the family after post-mortem on Sunday evening.
His last rites will be performed in Muktsar. Reportedly, police have notified that Navdeep’s father got stressed when his son didn’t respond to numerous phone calls. After a long period of waiting without any response from Navdeep, he decided to send a friend to check about Navdeep’s well-being. The friend found that the door of his hostel room was secured from inside. Nevertheless, no suicide note was found at the scene.
Fellow doctors in the MAMC community expressed grief and shock over the doctor’s death. Doctors have expressed their sympathies and offered support to the family. Some doctors have reported several deaths by suicide in the last year which require immediate attention.
