UPSC and SSC Recruitment: Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh stated in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the government has implemented several administrative and technology-driven reforms to make the recruitment process conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) more efficient, transparent, time-bound, and secure.
According to the Minister, the objective of these reforms is to streamline the recruitment process and enhance the credibility and impartiality of the examinations conducted by the UPSC and SSC.
Minister of State Jitendra Singh noted that interviews for recruitment to Group ‘C’ and Group ‘B’ (non-gazetted) posts were discontinued effective January 1, 2016, to expedite the recruitment process and ensure fairness and objectivity in the examinations.
He stated, “Provisional appointment letters can be issued based on self-attestation, alongside a six-month timeframe for the verification of character and caste certificates. Recruitment against vacant posts across all ministries, departments, and government organisations has been carried out in a time-bound and mission-mode manner, and lakhs of appointment letters have been distributed through the national ‘Rozgar Melas’ (job fairs) launched by the government in October 2022.”
The Minister mentioned that there are two recruitment agencies under the administrative control of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT): the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
