Universities Are Not to Run Allied and Healthcare Courses Through Online Mode: UGC

As per the directive, any recognition already granted to higher education institutions for running such programmes in the July-August 2025 session or thereafter will be withdrawn.

Allied and Healthcare Courses: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to stop offering allied and healthcare courses, including psychology as a specialization, which are governed by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021, via open and distance learning (ODL) or online methods starting from the academic session of July-August 2025.

As per the directive, any recognition already granted to higher education institutions for running such programmes in the July-August 2025 session or thereafter will be withdrawn.

In cases where programmes have multiple specialisations, such as Bachelor of Arts courses in subjects like English, Hindi, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, etc. only the specialisations covered under the NCAHP Act, 2021 will be discontinued.

The University Grant Commission has directed that no new admissions will be taken in the affected programmes from the upcoming session.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions saying that no new admissions will be accepted in the affected programmes in the upcoming session. All stakeholders are requested to take note of this decision and follow it.
