UGC Debarred NMIMS from Offering Online, Open and Distance Education Programs
The commission has cautioned the students not to take admission in any online, open and distance education program in NMIMS.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) on April 18 announced that it has debarred Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) for Online, Open and Distance learning programs for January-February 2023, July-August 2023 and January-February 2023 session.
The commission has cautioned the students not to take admission in any online, open and distance education program in NMIMS.
In the official notification, the UGC said, “Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Maharashtra has not complied with the UGC regulations and has committed gross violations with regard to the functioning of the Center for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA). Self-learning Naming of Materials and E-learning Materials (e-LM), Center for Distance and Online Learning.
The institute was not following the fee refund policy promulgated by the UGC. The statutory body received several complaints in this regard from various stakeholders. The institute will be permitted to offer open and distance education and online courses from July-August 2024 session “as per inspection/on-site visit by UGC and after obtaining necessary approval from UGC”.
