NEET UG 2024 Updates: The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Thursday postponed till July 18 the hearing on petitions related to the alleged paper leak in the NEET UG medical entrance exam. This included petitions alleging irregularities and malpractices during the May 5 examination and seeking re-examination of the examination.
The matter was adjourned as the CJI-led bench said that some parties have not received the affidavits filed by the Center and the National Testing Agency (NTA) and they need to make up their mind on the responses before the arguments. The other two judges on the bench are Justice JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra.
The court granted the adjournment to enable the petitioners to file their responses to the affidavits filed yesterday by the Center and the National Testing Agency, legal news website Live Law said in a report. A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud had initially proposed to list the cases on July 15. But Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta retired on July 15 and July 16, citing a personal difficulty. With the holiday on 17th July, the Supreme Court posted the cases till 18th July.
