The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will begin online choice-filling for UG Counselling 2025 from Monday, October 6, 2025. However, this process is dependent on the completion of the bank payment gateway integration. Dr Jaykrishna Jena, Director General (Education) of ICAR, told the media that if there is a further delay, it will begin the following day, October 7, 2025. “We are targeting Monday to begin the counselling process. If not on October 6, then by Tuesday, October 7,” Dr Jena said.
Why the UG Counselling delay?
Dr Jena explained that ICAR was ready to begin counselling by mid-September, but the integration of the payment gateway with the State Bank of India (SBI) caused the delay. Previously, ICAR had signed an agreement with another bank, which later withdrew, forcing the council to restart the process with SBI.
He said, “The integration of the payment gateway was crucial. Initially, one bank withdrew, and now SBI is handling the process. They have assured us that the system will be ready by Saturday. Even if that doesn’t happen, counselling will begin by Monday or Tuesday.”
ICAR Counselling Timeline
Once the process begins, ICAR will conduct five rounds of counselling instead of the previous three or four. Each round will last approximately three days, down from the usual five, so that the admission process is completed by the third week of October.
“Earlier, each round took five days, but this time we are reducing it to three days. Our goal is to complete counselling by the third week of October, although we have already been delayed by about a month and a half,” Dr Jena said.
Candidates have been waiting for clarity on the counselling schedule since the release of rank cards in early September. The registration and choice filling process will now mark the formal start of admissions to undergraduate agriculture and allied courses at ICAR-affiliated universities.
