BITS Pilani: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has expanded the number of students eligible for a 100% tuition fee scholarship. The institute will now offer this scholarship to the top 1,000 BITSAT rankers, an increase from the previous limit of the top 500. This expanded scholarship scheme will take effect from the upcoming academic year, covering students admitted through BITSAT 2027. The initiative aims to enable deserving students to pursue higher education at the institute without the burden of tuition fees.

Under this scheme, students who secure a rank within the top 1,000 in the BITSAT examination and whose family income is up to ₹20 lakh will receive a full tuition fee waiver for all four years of their degree program. To retain the scholarship, students must maintain a CGPA of 7.5.

The institute has clarified that students do not need to submit a separate application for the scholarship. If a student meets all the necessary eligibility criteria, the scholarship will be automatically included in their admission offer.

This decision to expand the scholarship program follows an observed increase in the number of top-ranking BITSAT candidates choosing to enroll at the institute.

This initiative continues our long-standing tradition of providing support through scholarships

Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, stated, “This initiative continues our long-standing tradition of providing support through scholarships. In the 2025-26 academic year alone, BITS Pilani has provided approximately ₹190 crore in the form of scholarships, fee waivers, and fellowships across its first-degree, higher-degree, and PhD programs.”

Of this amount, ₹101 crore was awarded to first-degree (undergraduate) students through merit-based, merit-cum-need, and international student scholarships. As a result, one in every four students across our campuses received financial assistance. The institution aims to gradually expand this scope, with the long-term goal of making admission tuition-free for everyone.
