The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the application process for the upcoming Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027, Session 1. The examination will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at various centers across India and abroad on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28.

Every year, over a million students appear for the JEE Main examination, vying for B.Tech/B.E seats at India’s top engineering institutions. With less than three months left until the exam, students should focus on strengthening their preparation with a well-structured study plan and personalised guidance. Several high-quality government initiatives, dedicated practice apps, and open-source education channels offer top-tier preparation material for IIT JEE for free.

JEE Main preparation can be done entirely through free online resources, provided you have the right combination of well-organised video lectures, practice question banks, and a mock test platform. Candidates preparing for the JEE Main 2027, Session 1, can utilise the following online platforms to enhance their preparation:

1. National Test Abhyas:  With the help of the ‘National Test Abhyas’ app, developed by the National Testing Agency (NTA), candidates can take mock tests for competitive examinations like JEE Main in an online mode using their mobile phones or computers. The app provides a computer-based test (CBT) interface that is identical to the one candidates will encounter on the day of the JEE Main examination.

The app facilitates mock testing for students, regardless of their device availability or network quality. It also features an ‘offline mode,’ which allows candidates to download mock tests and take them at any time without requiring an internet connection. Students can access the ‘Abhyas’ portal by visiting the official NTA website, nta.ac.in.

2. SATHEE Portal: Ministry of Education & IIT Kanpur: The Ministry of Education (MoE), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has launched ‘Self-Assessment, Test and Help for Entrance Exams’ (SATHEE). Its objective is to provide free guidance to students preparing for national-level competitive examinations, such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Accessible via smartphones and PCs, this platform provides free online live doubt resolution sessions, video classes, and mock test series tailored for students aiming to study from home, avoiding the expensive fees of coaching institutes.

SATHEE also provides free online crash courses for JEE Main preparation. Students are advised to keep an eye on the app for updates regarding such courses for the upcoming session. Those interested in registering for these courses and live sessions can visit the official SATHEE portal at sathee.iitk.ac.in.

3. IIT Delhi-PAL: IIT Delhi-Professor Assisted Learning (PAL) is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). Under this initiative, video lectures prepared by IIT Delhi professors and subject experts are made available. These lectures assist students in classes 11 and 12 in understanding concepts and preparing for the JEE Main or other competitive examinations, all at no cost.

The platform primarily covers subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, based on the NCERT syllabus for classes 11 and 12. It offers topic-wise lectures as well as live sessions dedicated to problem-solving. Registered students can also request live interactions. These lectures are also broadcast on ‘Swayam Prabha’ channels, including Doordarshan DTH channel 22. The classes and live sessions are available on the official IIT Delhi-PAL portal: iitpal.iitd.ac.in.

Using AI Tools to Accelerate JEE Main Preparation

Today, students’ extensive knowledge of AI advancements and their applications gives them an edge over candidates who took this exam five years ago. Whether you get stuck on a doubt late at night or struggle to follow your own study plan, AI tools can help you navigate these challenges.

While there is ongoing debate regarding the 100% accuracy of AI tools, meaning it is advisable not to rely entirely on their output, it is certainly useful to have them as a “friend” who can help clarify your doubts whenever needed.

By using these tools effectively, students can create structured study plans, develop mnemonics to make memorisation easier, and even generate practice questions. JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance examination. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education (MoE). It is intended for students seeking admission to undergraduate programs at top NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other institutions that accept scores from this examination.
