BRICS Summit 2026 Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed BRICS leaders on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Ahead of the summit, PM Modi extended a warm welcome at Bharat Mandapam to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other leaders.

PM Narendra Modi stated that after two decades of growth, BRICS has now reached a stage of ‘maturity’ (coming of age). He urged member nations to translate the bloc’s unity and consensus into tangible results on the global stage.

Addressing the BRICS Summit 2026, he remarked that the group has carved out a distinct global identity by respecting diverse views, moving forward through consensus, and progressing by bringing all nations together rather than opposing anyone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “BRICS has now reached a stage of maturity today. In the last twenty years, BRICS has established a unique identity globally. We value each other’s viewpoints and advance via consensus. Rather than opposing anyone, we endeavour to move forward inclusively. The moment has arrived to convert our internal unity and consensus into concrete outcomes worldwide.”

India’s BRICS presidency is based on the theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” This theme reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, which is people-centric and grounded in the spirit of “Humanity First.”
