Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Monday that students from ST and SC communities will not have to pay any fees at the time of admission to government medical and engineering colleges.

According to an official statement, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi issued this directive after learning that many meritorious Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students face financial difficulties at the time of admission, even after clearing challenging entrance exams.

The statement said, “To address this issue, CM Mohan Charan Majhi has directed that students from ST and SC communities will not be required to pay any fees at the time of admission or for a period of six months thereafter.” The release further stated that the Odisha government would soon issue guidelines regarding this matter.
