Jharkhand Paper Leak Protest: The Jharkhand government has initiated a dialogue with students protesting in Ranchi. These students are demonstrating against alleged irregularities in several state recruitment examinations, including those conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL).
On Wednesday, senior district officials visited the protest site and invited a five-member student delegation to meet Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence. This invitation was extended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kumar Rajat and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Dhananjay Kumar as part of the government’s effort to resolve the ongoing agitation through dialogue.
Speaking to reporters, SDM Kumar Rajat stated that the students had requested additional time to discuss the proposal among themselves before responding. The officials remained at the protest site, awaiting the students’ decision.
The protesting candidates insisted that any meeting with the Chief Minister should take place exclusively between student representatives and the government. They sought about two hours for deliberation before confirming their participation in the talks.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren reiterated his government’s readiness to engage in dialogue with the students and assured them that their concerns would be seriously considered.
Addressing the media, he noted that officials had already taken action against individuals allegedly involved in recruitment irregularities; several arrests have been made, and investigations involving raids at multiple locations are underway.
The Chief Minister emphasised the administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability and expressed confidence that the ongoing investigation would yield a meaningful solution. He also mentioned that while he had not yet spoken to the Union Home Minister regarding this matter, he would do so if the need arose.
