CJP Party March Towards Parliament: A march by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) towards Parliament on Monday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, turned chaotic. Thousands of protesters faced police barricades, a lathi-charge, and tear gas. While the CJP party alleged police brutality when they attempted to break through barricades and advance, the police maintained that the protesters had resorted to violence. By the end of the day, police reported that 118 of their personnel and 60 protesters had sustained injuries.
Over seventy people were detained, and the police stated that FIRs were being registered on charges of rioting, assaulting public servants, and damaging public property. Many protesters had remained gathered at Jantar Mantar overnight. By 11 AM, crowds began to gather on nearby roads as well. Traffic in central Delhi was thrown out of gear as the clashes spilt over beyond the protest site.
CJP Party Representatives Met With JP Nadda
Although CJP party representatives met with JP Nadda, the party asked protesters to return to Jantar Mantar, where the stage had been dismantled just hours earlier. On the other hand, the BJP held Left-wing student organisations, including the All India Students Association (AISA) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), along with other organised groups, responsible for the violence and protests during the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’s’ march to Parliament on Monday.
The BJP stated that similar allegations of orchestrated incitement and mob mobilisation had surfaced in the Delhi riots case as well, and legal proceedings against several individuals are still underway. The party alleges that the violence was not spontaneous but was instigated by certain organised groups, with a section of the mob subsequently joining them.
BJP leader Amit Malviya stated in strong terms that the “stone-pelting and orchestrated violence” carried out in the name of students raises serious questions about the intentions of the protesters and their supporters.
He said, “Another noteworthy point was that several prominent figures associated with the protests did not join the march themselves, leaving those mobilised by their political masters isolated and facing the consequences.” Malviya stated that the investigation would determine criminal liability.
“The real conspirators are often those who plan, instigate, and coordinate such violence while keeping themselves safe. They move on to the next agitation, leaving those they mobilised to face the legal repercussions.”
The CJP party has been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the past month. It has garnered support from opposition parties for its demand that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign over the paper leak issue. While the CJP party attempts to mobilise youth over alleged irregularities in the examinations, Malviya dismissed some of the ongoing allegations. He said, “Facts matter, not narratives built on fabricated documents.”
