New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi launched a Global E-Library on Tuesday, aiming to bring traditional medicine systems onto a common international platform. This is a significant step towards giving ancient knowledge global recognition and scientific credibility.
This digital library is designed to provide systematic, evidence-based information on traditional medicine practices, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and other indigenous healing systems from around the world. It will serve as a reference point for researchers, doctors, policymakers, and health institutions internationally.
Prime Minister Modi Said:
Speaking at the launch, the Prime Minister Modi said that traditional medicine has long played a crucial role in preventive healthcare and well-being, but its knowledge has often been scattered or confined to local regions. He said the new e-library will help bridge this gap by making authentic information readily available globally.

The platform aims to foster global collaboration, encourage research, and help integrate traditional medicine with modern healthcare systems wherever appropriate. It is also expected to help combat misinformation by providing verified and standardized data derived from ancient texts and contemporary studies.
Officials said this initiative will strengthen India’s leadership in the field of traditional medicine and contribute to global health discussions, especially at a time of growing interest in holistic and preventive healthcare solutions. This launch reflects India’s broader effort to bring its traditional knowledge systems to the global stage, while aligning them with modern scientific standards and international collaboration.
During this event, Prime Minister Modi launched the My Ayush Integrated Services portal and the Ayush Mark as a global quality benchmark, and also released a WHO technical report on yoga training. He also felicitated the recipients of the Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of yoga, and appreciated their continuous efforts in taking yoga to people across the world.
Traditional Medicine
Traditional medicine refers to health-related practices, knowledge, and beliefs that utilize natural products (plants, animals, minerals) and therapies (spiritual, physical, exercise) that have been passed down through generations, focusing on the balance of the whole body, predating modern biomedicine, and serving as primary healthcare for large populations worldwide. Systems such as Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Unani medicine integrate traditional knowledge with modern science for improved health.
